am a new piCal user using v0.6.

when i post a recurring event (say an event every Tuesday and Thursday), i get a double-entries on either the day i created the event itself or the very first day of the recurring event.

how do i solve it?

(i hope i was able to explain myself there.)

hi GOwin.

I can't understand what you mean.

If the event is "allday", it is perhaps caused by summer time trouble.(FAQ)

Set the server's timezone not to use summer time, if you can.

summer time? DST? we don't use that here.

i'll try explaining again. say I have an event for Apr-13 which I want to recur every Tuesday and Thursday for 3 weeks.

After setting the correct time and recurrence rules. What I would see in my calendar would be 2 events on Apr-13 and the correct events on April 15-20-22-27-29.

There are 2 events on April-13 when threre should only be one.

I understood what you mean.
I heard the trouble for the 1st time.

hmm...
I can't image the reason.

At least, you can see the event is extracted correctly.

I can see that yours is working correctly. I also tried adding recurring events, and it worked fine.

Hmmm ... what should I check for in my setup/server settings?

PS
How come I can't select dates from the pop-up calendar (ie when adding/editing events)? I can"t do it on opera thou it's ok on k-meleon? Is it a browser specific problem?

PPS
the sample recurring event in my site shows:
Quote:
Beginning DateTime 21 Apr 2004 (Wed) 04:00 (GMT+08:00) 20 20:00 (GMT+00:00)
Finishing DateTime 21 Apr 2004 (Wed) 06:00 (GMT+08:00) 20 22:00 (GMT+00:00)

while in your site:
Quote:
Beginning DateTime 19 Apr 2004 (Mon) 15:00 (GMT+08:00)
Finishing DateTime 19 Apr 2004 (Mon) 17:00 (GMT+08:00)

would you have an idea why i have two (in blue) time shcedules on my site while there's only one in yours?

if your xoops server timezone setting the same as your default timezone?

Yes. Perhaps, it's browser dependent.
I can't get work with Opera, too.

The blue part is shown if your timezone don't match event's timezone.

The troublesome events is not specified server's timezone same as yours.

Or, did you use piCal-0.5x ?
If so, don't forget tables maintenance in admin menu.

and i kept on thinking that opera is more inter-operable than other browsers...

----------

ok, i got that timezone difference thing.

i use a freshly installed piCal v0.6, so i don't have to do the table maintenance update right?

----------

Anyway, despite managing to fix my timezone settings I still have the same problem with recurring events.

I searched for the same problem in the XOOPS forums and discovered this thread where kjs22 reports about the problem he's having with all-day events and posted his fix for it.

I don't want to touch your code (being a newbie and all - ok i peaked in the code. that got me a bit overwhelmed ) but got curious about the poster's last comment:
Quote:
Please note that for both fixes above they only effect yearly recursion. Very likely monthly and daily recursion have the exact same problem. I'm sure GIJOE and others familiar with the code will quickly see where else this fix is needed. I hope the change is quickly implemented into the module and a new release follows shortly.

oh, and i just noticed this. my minical isn't synced with the full monthly calendar view. the dates with events on the minical is a day late.

and the full month view doesn't seem to mesh well with imago's mambo_taste theme.

(am sorry if i sound like am bellyaching a lot. )

I'm looking forward better javascript for calendar.
If you find some calendar javascript also working with Opera, tell me please.

Perhaps, no.
You don't have to do that.

But I wonder why the event's timezone become 0 (GMT).

When you set the event's timezone +8, is it registered as 0 ?

It is easy to repair it, if I find it myself.
But I've never experienced such troubles.

The most important thing is to unveil the conditions.

hmmm.
It might be a bug, but I've never experienced too.

nope. Events are now shown as:
Beginning DateTime 13 Apr 2004 (Tue) 20:30 (GMT+08:00)
Finishing DateTime 13 Apr 2004 (Tue) 22:30 (GMT+08:00)

What conditions are you looking for?

xoops v2.06 is running on a hosted linux server with apache v1.3.29, php v4.3.3 and mySql v 4.0.18-standard.

so, how can i help you on this? (assuming the errors were not caused by myself )

It's a cool script !
I'll import it into piCal.
Thank you for the information.

Even if event's timezone is set properly, does the doublizing events on the first date of some recurrences occur?

Perhaps, the version of MySQL or PHP is not the important factor.

Conditions which I wanna know is five of timezones.

- Server's timezone (not numeric but timezone's name)
- your timezone
- event's timezone
- server's timezone set in XOOPS
- your timezone set in XOOPS

Thanks!

Here are my timezone (TZ) information
-event's TZ: GMT+8
-XOOPS server TZ: GMT +8
-XOOPS default TZ: GMT +8
-my xoops user account's TZ: GMT +8

am not sure what you mean by "Server's timezone (not numeric but timezone's name)". Can you elaborate?

hi GOwin.

Sorry, yet.

Since piCal is complex program for me,
I can update it when I can take settled time.

I'm new to the forum, php, xoops, etc. (of any kind). Can you lead me to information on how to upgrade piCal 0.50 to piCal 0.51 or better. We're having a similiar problem of duplicate items showing up in the calendar.

When you upgrade does it use the same mysql database without any changes?

0.51 & 0.60 has same problem about daylight saving/summer time.
sorry.

My motivation about the problem is a little lower than about another problems, because there are no problem for me and Japanese users at least.
