Hi,

I used the eCal module for quite a while before I moved to piCal. Since I have many past events in that module I need to import them into piCal.

Right now I am writing an import script (70% done), I will let you know when it is ready.

Is anybody else interested in this script? Please let me know.

One question regarding piCal, what is the 'sequence' column in the database? I don't know to what values to set it.

Cheers,
Marius

Almost columns of piCal are defined in RFC2445.

-------------------------------------
4.8.7.4 Sequence Number

Property Name: SEQUENCE

Purpose: This property defines the revision sequence number of the
calendar component within a sequence of revisions.

Value Type: integer

Property Parameters: Non-standard property parameters can be
specified on this property.
-------------------------------------

Perhaps it should be set as 1.

Thanks!

I finished the script last night, it can be downloaded from here:
http://romanians.bc.ca/modules/mydownloads/files/xoops/hacks/ecal_import.zip

I used it to import 345 events from eCal and apparently it worked fine.

Cheers,
Marius

It's very worthy work.

Because piCal is full RFC2445 application,
events imported to piCal from eCal can be export ANY iCalendar applications. (MS's OutLook, Apple's iCal, etc.)

Well, yes and no. You can indeed import eCal events through piCal into any iCalendar complaient application but keep in mind that eCal is very simple and limited:
- no repeating events
- no event end time or duration
- no categories
- no location or contact

For me this script was important because it allowed me to migrate to piCal

Maybe you want to add this script to the piCal distribution, it is only one php file.

Thanks,
Marius
