I added Protector and I think inadvertently blocked my own IP. In an attempt to repair I overwrote mainfile.php with the version before Protector installation. And I deleted the Protector module from my Xoops installation. I still cannot gain access, get a you are not authorized error message. I also uploaded at some point .htaccess but do not see that file on the server tree.
Will it be easier to reinstall Xoops and start from scratch?

- check mainfile.php
- check .htaccess just under XOOPS_ROOT_PATH
if 403 or 500 error, check .htaccess in whole path again.

htaccess is the problem. But how to edit that file? My ftp client will not display htaccess. I see no htaccess in my server side tree.
I have deleted the initial installation of xoops and dropped the db table. But still get the same error which I assume is due to htaccess.

1st, check the configurations of the FTP client.
(about hidden files etc.)
not htaccess but .htaccess.
Contact to the admin of your server.
It's not a matter of Protector nor me.
