GIJOE:

Is it possible that the high frequency of Google Mediapartners bots could be classified as DOS attacks? Today, for the first time, Protector logged Google Mediapartners as posing DOS attacks. This had never happened before. Mediapartner is included in "Welcomed User-Agent."

I have not had the chance of checking my logs yet (I'll provide details tomorrow).

If this is possible, is there any way of preventing it? The config against DOS is defaulted at 10.

Thanks.

Just had a chance to check yesterday's logs.

The Mediapartners bots usually come to site in pairs. In a single case yesterday, one of the pairs (first one) was returned with 5 bytes and was labeled as DOS, the second pair was okay.

Other than the isolated case, Mediapartners bots had no problems crawling the site.

Very strange, indeed.

hi tl.

Though I don't know Google Mediapartners well, you can distinguish it from normal Googlebot by User-Agent.

If you don't want 'MediaPartners-Google/2.1' to crawl it, just remove it from welcomed-agents.

And you can cotroll by IP base using 2.50beta1.
