GiJoe,

Have you considered (and perhaps dismissed?) the idea of adding support for the bottom left, bottom center, and bottom right block positioning to altsys block management? For example I have a customer who would like me to place the d3Forum Topics block at the bottom center of the homepage but I don't think I can do this using AltSys block management since it only supports the original left side, right side, and 3 center blocks - correct?

I don't suppose it is as easy as updating the defines in language file (.trust_path/libs/altsys/language/selected_language/myblockadmin.php) and then adding the constants to the select array in ./trust_path/libs/altsys/include/myblock/myblockform.php

You can get extra blocks placements that are 'managed' by your theme.

By using 'search' feature from the site (top right), you would have found the following topics:

=> DB THEME

=> How to display blocks in appoint page

=> Free Layout of center parts (Blocks&Body)

=> Free Layout of center parts (Modified)

May the "searcher spirit" be with you next time!

Have Fun !

Thanks Gigamaster... I did search. Apparently I must not understand DB Theme very well so I'll go look at it further.

The customer has an existing theme and all I really want to do is put a duplicated d3forum block in the bottom center block on the home page - and I would have liked to have managed the blocks through AltSys - sounds easy enough but...

Hi ZySpec,

DBTheme and Freelayout are really good solutions to design a very customized theme,
Even to render each block with its own graphical style.

If you know the "ID" of your block, you can design with css
and place the block where ever you want on your layout.

It's also possible to give your block a prefix_MainMenu
then filter with smarty to give it a specific place on your theme.

How to render extra blocks within your Legacy Theme

Note : Both solutions provide a lot of freedom.
Meanwhile, I would say it also depends on your Xoops version.

Yes, I dismissed such a new and poor feature in 2.0.14 from xoops.org.
"free layouts of center blocks" is far better solution than "bottom blocks" with my confidence.

Anyway, many users -even XCL- will be happy if `side` field can be edited directly.
I'll add such a feature into the next altsys.
