Hi when someone gets a message saying that their IP is listed in an RBL, is their any way for it to say which RBL it is listed in and why it is listed. And could it also show the users IP address aswell.

Some users will not know what an RBL is or how to find out what their IP is.

That way innocent users can go to the RBL owners and have their IP address removed.

Also, a wee message saying that if your ISP assigns a different IP address each time you log on then the problem may be resolved by logging off the net and logging back on.

This happened to me today, lol.

About this site?
This site enables mod_access_rbl for Apache instead of Protector's plugin for XOOPS.

This is the list.
      Deny via niku.2ch.net
      Deny via all.rbl.jp
      Deny via sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org
      Deny via bl.spamcop.net

If you mean about your site, disable the plugin or modify the list of RBL in the file.

Hi sorry for taking so long in answering. been busy getting things organised.

It happened on my own site.

I got around it by going off-line and reconnecting as i was given a new IP address.

To be honest with you I dont want to disable the plugin as I think its actually stopping the comment spammer targeting xoops sites.

It's just that I feel that people who are denied by RBL should be told which RBL denied them so that if they are innocent they can go and get their IP address removed from that RBL's list.

Should I just stick to one RBL and edit the plugin to say the name of it in their? Or should I list the 2 that i use.

Do you mean protector should exhibit the denied reason with detail?

like this:

"Your post is rejected because of the list from RBL - sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org"

Yes, that would be perfect.

At the moment, all they are told is the first part, which is not useful for innocent people who wish to remove their IP from the specific RBL thats blocked them.

Thanks

OK.
I think it is more important how to relieve such innocent posters.

"white list" will be a solution.

How to add innocent people into the list by him/herself ...

Captcha must be a good answer though I don't like it.
