I am using Xoops 2.2.4 and have upgraded Protector from 2.52 to 2.57 by uploading and overwriting the new files then updating the module. The version number remains the same however at 2.52.
Any ideas as to why this might happen? I have downloaded the zip file 3 times now, uploaded and updated each time just to be sure I have done everything necessary.
Help?

Does modules/protector/xoops_version.php contain this?
$modversion['version'] = '2.57';
$modversion['version'] = '2.57';
