I installed this patch to XOOPS 2.2.4 and it did not appear to work. The remember me check box did not appear. After clearing the files from template_c and then restarting Apache, I then saw the checkbox. I had to do both, doing just one wouldn't work.
Then it would not actually auto login. I checked the cookies, and it was not adding any cookies. I verified that autologin.php was being called by adding a print statement.
Further investigation revealed that the test:
was always returning false. Apparently, each side of the test handles symbolic links differently. Changing it to the hard coded full path of user.php fixed the problem and it seems to work now.
Then it would not actually auto login. I checked the cookies, and it was not adding any cookies. I verified that autologin.php was being called by adding a print statement.
Further investigation revealed that the test:
@$_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME'] == XOOPS_ROOT_PATH.'/user.php'
