Was there any changes for 2.2.4?

It stoped to work for me, there is no cookie stored.

Checked installation and even tried to reinstall.

URL is www.wirdf.de (german only, sorry)

Any ideas?

I have applied this hack to my xoops 2.2.4 site and I can see the "Remember Me" check box with no problem. I login, check the box and everything seems to be ok. I look at my cookie and there are 2 entries "autologin_uname" and "autologin_pass". The login name has the correct name and the pass is blowfish encrpypted as it should be. When I log out and view the cookie again these entries are gone so I don't see how this hack works at all. I also just tried to save my login to this site as a "Remember Me" and this site doesn't remember me either.

Does this hack even work? Any ideas?

Perhaps, you've just misunderstood the meaning of "remember me".

"Close window" without "loging out".
You can loging in the site automatically in a week (default)
