one of my test sites (using 2.2.3) was hijacked yesterday. i corrected it but can someone explain how this happens and what i can do to prevent this from happening again.

yes i took all all usual precautions that i can with 2.2.3

I use protector on my 2.0.13 sites.

Can you give some more details on method or results of hijack? Site redirected? Site changed in some way? or site framed by another?

I do not fully understand what is meant by hijack without more information.

it may be someone on my shared server running a script to access my cache directories.

Well the reason I mention is that at one time I had my complete site wrapped into another XOOPS site with freecontent.
