Hi everyone,

I am trying to create a profile or snapshot of each of Xoops' global userbase communities...with Japan of course being one of them! I will eventually put this information on my site, as a resource for people interested in Xoops around the world. I would like to know where I can find information about Xoops development, activities and the user/developer community in Japan. I thought that asking this question here would be an excellent way to start. I would also like to know what your impression of Xoops is in Japan...is it widely known? Is it frequently used in the business or other communities? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

Thank you,

jeffgr

hi jeffgr.

At first, you should know "XOOPS" means XoopsCube in Japan.
Almost all XOOPS sites for japanese are made by 2.0.x-JP or XoopsCubeLegacy 2.1.x

If you mean "XOOPS" as just xoops.org's version, you can ignore Japanese users.
In Japan, there are quite few sites running xoops.org's version.

http://www.xugj.org/ (users/developpers community. the most active now)
http://xoopscube.jp/ (old but cannot ignore it)

is it widely known?
Perhaps, yes.
"XOOPS" is far the most major CMS in Japan.
Of course, "XOOPS" means the versions from XoopsCube Project

Yes.

One thing i have observed about xoops is that every country or support community seems to have a different version of xoops. I dont see this with drupal or joomla or any other cms i have come accros for that matter of fact. If all these are support communities for xoops why dont they work on a single project and make it better. It becomes very confusing for somebody selecting a cms for their site as first compare different cms in market then if one finds xoops better again compare all the different versions of xoops from different countries or support communities.

Perhaps, you've misunderstood XoopsCube.

XoopsCube is an international project started by the members had disappointed the core team of XOOPS project.

You can see http://xoopscube.org/

And I don't know any country local versions of XoopsCube.

So this means xoopscube is now a different cms in itself. Can you tell me which one do you think is better for a site where members can contribute material. I m about to start a new site, so can you tell me which one should i opt for xoops or xoopscube.

My answer is the same as gigamaster.
You'd better try both cores by XAMPP etc.

I never treat one core with favor.

But if you want to use my modules without troubles, I have to recommend you to use XoopsCube Legacy 2.1.x.

It seems a bit sarcastic Shine

But if you can go back, if time travel is possible?
Tell me how?

I would like to visit the ancient egiypt and those great civilizations that have disappeared.
