is there a hack to add description to the album?
on the album list on the index page?
something like xcgallery or xoopsgallery

I can't understand what you mean.
You can access description by <{$photo.description}> in templates

ermm sorry about the explanation.
what i meant was the Album description, not the picture/photo 's description.
Example:
Album One
this album is about butterfliess..etc.etc etc
Album Two
this album is about big boats and ships etc etc..
something like what you can see here:

it would be great if I can add description to the albums.
