hi iceman.

Can you auto-login here?

Anyway try this.

add this line into your mainfile.php
line 38 is good place, I think.
defiine('XOOPS_COOKIE_PATH','/');

hi iceman.

There are two types of COOKIES.

1) COOKIE per a session
2) COOKIE stored in your HDD.

If you enable only 1, autologin can work well.
And some security applications prevent COOKIES from storing into HDD.

You should check the setting of your browser.
If you can't log in this site automatically, you can't log in your site automatically too.

A possibility.
Are not you misunderstanding the meaning of autologin?
"autologin" means keeping someone's login session as long as he don't log out.

GIJOE you are right! It is all based upon a missunderstanding from my side. I thought autologin was that once you logged our then the site would remember your user name and then I would only put in the password.

sorry for waisting your time.. but do you know who I could get it to work like that?

Thanks again,

Do you mean like this?

1) You can log in automatically in this site.
2) You can't log in automatically in your site.

If so, it is probably an issue of the path of COOKIE.
Have you try this?

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but things are working fine now, I can log in automatically in you and in mine site.

However I was wondering if you knew how I could make it so, that instead of logging in automatically then when the user enters my page, the browser just remembers the username, (and displayes) and the user has to put the password in himself, each time he comes. (just like you can do on hotmail and other places)

Again thanks for all your help, you are doing a great job for the Xoops community,

Iceman

It is a role of browser.
Some browser set your password into "password field" automatically.
At least, IE5&6 has it.
See "auto complete" section in control panel of internet.
